Lead Service Line Replacement Project

The State of Michigan requires that all communities remove and replace all lead water service lines over the next 20 years. The City of Grand Haven is committed to complying with the State’s requirements and has been diligently investigating the water service materials in the public right-of-way, on private property, and inside homes. If water service line materials are galvanized, they will be replaced with copper pipe. To financially assist with this large project, the City applied for and received grant funding from the Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE) and the Michigan Lead and Copper fee collected on each City water system user’s monthly bill.

This ongoing project will be completed once all service line materials have been identified and replaced as necessary.
