Planning Commission



Responsible for reviewing and rendering decisions on the majority of non-residential facility site plans. In addition, the Commission is also charged with drafting and adopting the Community Strategic Land Use Master Plan.

Member Qualifications

Consists of nine (9) members who shall represent insofar as is possible different professions or occupations and who shall be appointed by the mayor, but such appointment shall always be subject to the approval by a majority vote of the city council. All members of the planning commission shall serve as such without compensation and in this case also the appointed members shall hold no other municipal office except that one of such appointed members may be a member of the zoning board of appeals. One member may be a non-resident of the city who has an interest in the planning of the general area of which the City of Grand Haven is a part.
