Finance

The Finance Department supervises three divisions. The Accounting Division ensures that budgetary and financial requirements are met and reported accurately; auditing and accounting standards are met or exceeded; the City's annual audit is properly managed and reported; payments of invoices are made appropriately; billings for water, sewer, and other customers are issued timely; and grants and loans to the City are appropriately utilized and reported. The Finance Director serves on the Building Authority Board, Economic Development Corporation, and Brownfield Redevelopment Authority Board.

The Assessing Division values property within the City on a mass appraisal basis for taxation purposes and provides documentation to the public, as needed.

The Information Technology Division fills internal and external needs for computerized information and telecommunications systems for the City.

The Finance Department's main objectives are to continue to provide "clean" audits through proper accounting of City fiscal operations and to assure prompt invoicing and payment for chargeable City services. Further objectives include installation of networked server systems, firewalls, and significant use of desktop software products throughout the organization, comprehensive spreadsheets and database management for departmental and all computer using staff, and continued advancement in technical connections of a geographic information system.
